Helping you improve your life through eating better.
Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Consultant near Bristol.

Welcome, I'm Lydia.
I break through the nutrition nonsense to help you Eat Better Today for your physical and mental wellbeing.
Create a fresh, positive relationship with food and your weight for the future.
I am passionate about food and improving lives through good nutrition. I make nutritional science easy to understand.
I specialise in using behaviour change approaches to transform your diet and lifestyle. With nearly 20 years’ experience, I provide expert food and nutrition advice to both individuals and groups.

My food story
My passion for all things food and nutrition started when I was young. I practically skipped to my biology and home economics lessons when I was at school. I loved them.
Diving into the detail of nutrition, food preparation, and the working of the human body in health and disease made for a great morning.
This love of all things food and nutrition was supported by growing up in a household where my mum, an ex-chef, provided good quality, healthy, home cooked food and my dad (plus the rest of the family) were very appreciative eaters. We’d sit around the table, discussing the events of the day and enjoying our food.

Foundations in the NHS
It was my Grandad who suggested I consider a career with food. That’s when I discovered Nutrition and Dietetics. It was perfect! It combined everything I loved, food, nutritional science plus the medical angle of human health and disease.
I really value my 13 years working in the NHS. I’ve supported people in hospitals, in the local community, working alongside GPs and other health professionals to support adults and children as individuals and in groups. This gave me valuable experience working with a wide variety of clinical conditions.
However, I have always specialised in weight management and women’s health. I was fascinated by how incredibly complex the human body is and driven to learn why some people can manage their weight whilst others struggle. I quickly learnt that the ‘one size fits all’ approach simply doesn’t work for long.
Food is more than just nutrition
Just because we have the knowledge, doesn’t mean we put it into action. Food is more than just nutrition. It’s about the way we eat, our culture and upbringing, social status, individual health needs, how we see ourselves and the psychology surrounding our food choices.
I use a toolkit of strategies to support you with your dietary needs whilst cultivating a positive relationship with food. Over the years I’ve worked alongside psychologists and honed my skills in behaviour change. Relating to you individually lies at the heart of my practice.
“Lydia has managed to make me completely rethink and re-evaluate my relationship with food, reminding me along the way that it is both feeding your body but also your brain.”
Having my two children was a pivotal moment for me. The realisation that we are responsible for these little people. Right from conception we have the chance to shape their health for the future. Having seen many thousands of individuals over the years, I was acutely aware that people’s relationship with food is often shaped from their past experiences.
Therefore, I apply my knowledge, training and experience to day-to-day life. I ensure that the food language, our approach to food and the messages they receive give my children a positive start with food. This will encourage them to grow up ‘body confident’, in tune with their internal signals and be happy, healthy, and adventurous eaters who enjoy food. I want to do the same for you!
